I don't think it'll be here to stay if Facebook wants to keep their customer base.
Nobody, and I mean nobody likes it.
How can a company ultimately survive when they do something the customer base hates that much?

I am not sure - I mean the option that they offer if you want it - sure why not - they have to change the layout and have to be creative and all - but this is way too radical and I heard it from so many people that they dont like it - and then in another forum I got this answer ': if you dont like it - dont use facebook' - so helpfull dont you think?

Thats funny- I heard it from so many people how they dislike the new look - from friends, and collegues, and in general on forums - yet I think FB is not going to do anything about it

Nobody, and I mean nobody likes it.
I know people who like it.
I also know that nobody liked tagging photos and the newsfeed when they came out, but people came around. Timeline isn't going anywhere. People are so addicted to this stupid site it doesn't matter what they introduce.

I guess this means that you are not addicted ? :)

I quite like the timeline to be honest. And I think its gong to be a situation where at first users may say they dont like it, then just carry on regardless. Its more or less a different way of displaying the same information.
As an example does anyone remember the navigation links here used to be on the right? well there was a lot of complaining at the time, but now its just normal.

So timeline can not be removed?

If I click on my "HOME" link it asks if I want to switch to Timeline. I haven't yet but I know people who jumped at the chance to add their own graphics there. I remember when everyone was all upset about the look of the page changing, mine always had the links on the right so I am starting to think that the FaceBook I use is some beta model. Maybe they shuffle every nth signup to their test server? They are probably disappointed at the way I use it.
If adding it is an option, there must be some way to remove it. OTOH if you didn't choose it, there may be no way to get rid of it.

Timeline appears to be a gradual roll-out across all accounts. Currently you can opt in, but through time it will be mandatory across all accounts. Its more or less a replacement for the wall.

Yeah - it is a suprise, because it wasn't mandatory and then one morning I woke up and just when I was about to enjoy my cup of coffee and some gossip from Facebook -tada - TIMELINE!
You can't rewinf the wheel of time - meaning - you can't change it back

Once you live with it for a couple of days it gets better. Its just "new" it does more or less the same thing, just displays things differently.
