New messages system - problems

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure what's going on with the new messages system at facebook. It had appeared on my facebook, but I never activated it (or maybe accidentally?)...and now it seems to be the standard for everyone.

I need to send an incredibly important facebook message (to get a girl's phone # LOL!), so I need to know if there are any difficulties with messages not arriving if you send them to other users.

I did read something about people not receiving messages b/c of difficulties with this new system? Were there any?

The primary issue you are facing is that many (the vast majority?) of people on FB do not use or pay any attention to their internal messaging system. For example: me. I ignore it.

Different people have different approaches to FB; it's not the web. It's a closed system and that is what you (and the rest of the world) is struggling with,

I have small client who cannot be convinced of this, sending messages to her customers (and me) from her FB account and never getting a reply.

You are trying to get the phone number of this girl you know via FB? Yeah, LOL. Post your email address where she is sure to see it instead. Try, "I need chat with you outside FB, email me here..."

considering I posted this on april 1 it may have been an april joke (is that what you call it in the US?).

then again it wasnt, but it makes for a good excuse right now LOL

Seriously, though..do many people ignore those messages? sending facebook private messages usually works with all my friends

my experience with both text messaging and FB messaging is that there is a strong reverse correlation between age and adoption starting at an early teenage pinnacle and with a sharp dropoff in the vicinity of the baby-boomer/generation-x boundary (mid-40s).
there are exceptions with everything, of course.

As far as I know personal FaceBook messages are still getting through by email but those sent via Pages are getting sent to the FB inbox, where the majority of users never look
