Is FB account assisting in my SEO?

Been playing around on Facebook so long I am bored, they only allow you 5000 friends and penalizee you if you get too many too soo (diable your friends account for 2 days). In the GRAND SCHEME of SEO, how important really, is a Facebook page in conjunction to your main web site. Ethically speaking, I've not noticed many positive results as far as mine is concerned.

Don’t look at FB from SEO perspective. ( Although things may soon change with the search engines finding ways to integrate the FB signals in their reputation side of the equation. )

Look at it as a relationship marketing platform. Links are people! It can be used for different purposes – namely; customer retention/ engagement, customer acquisition and brand exposure.
