GoDaddy is acquiring Neustar's business and domain registry services and will rename it GoDaddy Registry, managing for example, .biz, .us

Note: GoDaddy is not acquiring the DNS and DDoS businesses of Neustar.

Hello,

Is it good, or bad? I am always skeptical about concentrations.

Everyone remember when GoDaddy was supporting SOPA and SIPA which would allow government to steal your domains in a split second without any due process if you had a shady competitor who would post copyright material on your site and immediately go and claim it was you? I sure remember.

If GoDaddy were to go anywhere near my main registrar I'd moved everything immediately, period!

Only thing I'd say about GoDaddy is their support is geared for the masses, 48-hour turnaround style and low-level tech support which involves perseverance if not a simple problem. Unsure about the dynamic of them being the registry/registrar for some TLDs. I guess for them the upselling opportunities on the domains is a good catch.
