Hi I have a problem and I need help.

My hosting company threw out my domain when I cancelled with them. And when I check it on whois it shows I have no regsitrar.

I need to find a registrar that will take on my domain and then I need to point the domain to my new hosts DNS.

What companies can I use to take on my own domain name and be the registrar.

I,m in limbo at the moment.

Thanks

From whom did you buy the domain?

Your ex-hosting company or a registrar or are they the same?

You need to find out who the original registrar was and either point the domain from there or transfer it out to a new registrar.

Need a bit more info really.

Hi midi25.

To minimize perpetual promotional spamming we steer away from threads/posts asking members to suggest or recommend domain registrars, hosting companies and other service providers.

There are many domain registrars. I've used dozens. It's extremely rare that there's a problem with a domain registrar. There may be more issues with resellers but, in that case, you complain to the parent registrar and the resellers shape up quickly.

Now I have a new host but no registrar.

But your name must be registered somewhere IF it still exists, I think!

Has the name expired?

If it is still showing in the Whois then I'm fairly sure the registrars name is usually there.

As Webwork wrote, complain to the parent registrar plus you will also usually find a list of registrars at the parent registrar...hundreds of them!

When I check the whois for some of my domains, depending whose "whois" I use it gives my registrar under "Source" or "Registrar".

On the whois is shows no registrar.

I phoned Nominet and they said I need to find a registrar and for a fee of £11 they will help me transfer it.

I,m going to phone the original company I registered it with because they are the people that should of hosted it for me.
