Im thinking of starting a site with the end user in mind but also profit overtime with Adsense.

My question is; Is it a good idea not to select a specific domain for what I will be covering on the site the reason I am asking this is because if one idea does not work I can always change to doing other widgets instead without having a silly domain that does not relate to the widget im doing incase i decide to change.

What are your thoughts on this, thanks.

Domains are so cheap I'd pick one which is memorable and suits the subject.

Not so sure,
There are two schools
One is meaningful: buyMyStuffs.com
The other one starts to become trendier; best example yahoo
Does it mean anything…No.. it’s all in the branding.
My own site uses the second type. For most people it could be meaningless although easy to groove in your “brain hard drive”

Branding is for sites which plan to become major destinations or back up major companies. For small-to-medium content based sites it will just have people confused.

awesome so basicly a nice, small name that is easy to remmber is the way to go, i like that trendy comment - gives me confidence.

but boy, i never thought how hard it would be to come up with a good/decent domain name its so hard lol.

Thanks

haha, that's the easy part, the hard part is then finding a name and domain name that is still available :)

The best way is to find a combination of both. famous, readable, and keywords related.
