Hi , We just purchased 2 new domain names that we plan to sit on for at least a couple of months. I put up an under construction page to block the advertising that the place we bought the domain name from. Would it be ok to point those 2 new domains to our existing site. If so how can I do this.

or is this a bad idea?

Thanks for any help

If the sites are going to be different bad idea. I would do just as your doing under construction nothing wrong with that.

I would add a disallow all though either robots text or in the header.

The sites will be similar. the new sites will be off shoots of the the existing site.

do you really want to do 301's to the main site for a couple months? Me I would keep them just like ya got them.

Personally I always put up a single splash page linking direct to the existing site using all new titlebar, metatags etc and preferably different information. The sooner G knows you're there, the sooner the new sites will start ranking better when you actually launch the sites fully.

If you have immediate plans for the sites (ie sometime in the next 12 months) then do not 301 them - it is difficult to get Google to rank them for a long time after. :(

As Huskypup said, make a nice splash page, and give a link to the current related site.
