Before I even think about responding, I'm wondering if anyone out there has received an email like the following:
EDIT: The email was from a Chinese company claiming that someone was trying to register some country.tld versions of the recipient's company name. Example.cn, example.asia, etc.
Definitely a template email, but that doesn't necessarily make it invalid... Just interested in thoughts or comments on this email if anyone has dealt with something similar. Thank you.
Cheers,
n.

[edit reason] No email quotes, no exceptions [/edit]
I did a few site searches and didn't find much of immediate use. So - this could be interesting - how would you even search this issue through the search of this forum? How would LifeinAsia query this issue?
The reason I put this out there is to find info for my use if this is prevalent, but also to try to inform the community of a potential harm to their own sites if it is not.
Nonetheless, I did end up digging a bit more tonight and it looks like this is a scam trying to get a site owner to buy up more unnecessary domains. Shady: yes - illegal: don't think so - annoying: definitely.
Cheers,
n.
