Renewing previously owned expired domains

Can renew in the US but not in the UK!

I owned widget.co.uk which i bought in the US, I try buying it back from a UK registrar and it says taken, yet I can still buy it from a US registrar.

Any Ideas?

I would get in touch with Nominet and seek their advice - just so you don't waste time and loose it.

Normally, your current registrar (in your case the one in the US) would be able to renew it for you after it has initially lapsed (but before being deleted).

The problem you probably have is trying to change registrar and then renewing it. As far as I'm aware, only your current registrar can renew it.
