Telling if a domain name will automatically renew

There's been purchased domains that I wanted that were set to expire.

Many were automatically renewed the last day.

Is there be a way to tell if a domain is set to automatically renew itself?

Not in the WhoIs record.

Even if there was an indicator credit cards can be cancelled or overlimit or rejected, people can die, spouses can "play games" is they are in a divorce, etc.
