I bet this is a major issue, since product names and company names are protected by trademarks, but you see it happening a lot on the web. companyname-shopping-guide.com, productname-reviews.com, etc... what are the legal issues with this?

Seems to me to be a forumula for building something and as soon as it gains any attention or traffic it gets taken away by virtue of a C&D letter or lawsuit arriving. Waste of time built right into the model. Worse, if you have any assets you put them at risk if you play the "I'll ignore them game".

None the above ever stopped a whole slew of people seeking short term gains.

If your aim is to profit off the famous mark you might save yourself some grief by asking the trademark holder "would you object"? Most people wouldn't ask because they're afraid the answer would be "No". Therein should lie the answer but, again, many choose to ignore it.

I'm of the opinion that the tidal wave of trademark enforcement has been building momentum. You don't want to be staring out at the ocean when it hits, do you?

you are wright. but someone can buy donains and the sell it for small money account. something that had happen to my first domain that the registran never send a email that is near end, and after the expiration i found that is been used and is for sale.
know that my main customer is a real big company i had close all the domains under me just for security -or an extra income;)
