Strange Domains

How do they create these strange names and why?

I have noticed a lot of somename.xyz.net.pl
etc and all different kinds of domains all over
G and Y. How are these names created? They
get listed with no www in them. They rank
well and the banklinks are usually tons of spam.

Are they sub-domains of some other name? If so
how do you know what the top level site is?

Why are they ranking so well?

They do not have www as a prefix because they are subdomains. Frequently, spammers use free hosting with a subdomain address because they are disposable. If they get blacklisted, they get another free subdomain.

The second level domain is usually the phrase or keyword directly to the left of the last . before the / . In some instances when a country code is involved (ie. widget.co.uk), it may be the second to the last .

They probably rank well due to all the backlinks that you mentioned.

That method works real well, until "G" catches up with you. Then it's the old "blacklist" you were speaking of.

Even the threat of ban doesn't stop the high earners because they just move on to another desposable sub-domain.
