Snapnames got a domain of mine after it was dropped, and now they are auctioning it. Will they keep the name for a year after the auction ends?

"They" = who?

If Snapnames auction the domain then whomever wins the auction gets to keep the domain.

If there are no bids on the domain, SnapNames will sooner or later let it drop. Then all the dropcatchers who have backorders on the domain will try to catch it when it drops, along with a hoarde of domain tasters who will compete to pick it up and "taste" it for traffic. If you definitely want your domain back, it's DEFINITE that you should place a bid at SnapNames, NOW!
