Domain parking problems

not quite connecting to host...

I'm trying to park a domain on a shared host.
I already have one domain that is setup to use the space which all works fine.

To park the domain I've taken the 'Shared IP address' from cpanels general account information and I've changed the A record of the domain that I want to park to that IP. Then back i cpanel I entered the new domain name in the Park Domain section and got this:

Using nameservers with the following IPs: 123.456.789.10
Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not
appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to
this servers nameservers...

I't was over a week ago I initially attempted to do this so there's been plenty of time for propagation. Interestingly the IPs, that cpanel reports, belong to the domain registrar that hold the domain I'm trying to park, so there is some sort of connection between the two. in fact when you go to the domain you get cpanel telling you 'there is no website configured at this address'...

it seems like I'm just doing something slightly wrong.

can anyone tell me what it is?
thanks
Chris

You should ask your hosting company what their nameservers are, then you change your new domain's nameservers to those of your host in your domain registrar's control panel. The nameservers handle the DNS and will allow the domain to resolve to your IP address.

From your post,i couldnt undertand by which method you are trying to park your name?
By changing the DNS,A record or using frame as DS offer?

If you are trying to use first or third option then you can do that without your host,if you are trying to use second option then ask your host to change the A record,it shouldnt be a big issue for them

Thanks guys

The registrars control panel doesn't seem to have a place for entering the hosts nameservers...

Their 'DNS Management section' has a 'Mail Server Records (MX)' section where you can enter mail and smtp.domain.com addresses and set their priority.
This is followed by the 'A Records (A)' section where you can enter a hostname, eg www or subdom.domain.com followed by an IP address.

So my problem is that, as I share an IP address (through a shared hosting package) which fails to connect my domain to my webspace, what can I enter in the A Records section when it asks for an IP?

The A records contain the IP address of the server.

Its then server's own "job" to to point the www.whatever.com to the directory containing the pages with your adverts and www.someoneelses.com to a different directory containing their webpages / adverts

adverts?

Well this is what I presumed would happen, but the server at the other end refuses to notice that the IP entered is in fact the IP of one of its servers and that it should do something... sounds to me that in this situation, without anywhere to alter nameservers I'm a bit stuck...

hmmm...

They will have, you're probably looking in the wrong place. From your description, you're in the hosting control panel. Just email the registrar's support and ask them where to set the nameservers.
