Domain Expiring. Want to purchase from another registy

Hello. I have a domain purchase from Domain Regisry. It will be expiring soon. However I want to puchase it from GoDaddy instead as per year is a whole lot cheaper. $8 compared to $30. That way I can buy more years.

How do I purchase from GoDaddy when I am still with Domain Registry. Also I am afraid what if the domain expires and some has prebooked it. How will know if anyone has booked it in anyway?

You should be able to transfer the domain from your current registrar to another without letting it expire. Go to GoDaddy, select transfer from the "Domain Names" drop-down menu, and they'll talk you through the process. You'll almost certainly need to unlock the domain name through the control panel at your current registrar in order for the transfer to go through. Whatever you do don't let your domain name expire or you might lose it.

You have to see when your domain is going to expire. If it is less than 10 days from today maybe you won't be able to transfer it.
