Redirected domains: dead or alive?

I sometimes register a few TLD's around my main domain names, to help protect against squatting.

In a specific instance, I have a couple of domains 301 redirected to Domain A.

For redundancy's sake I'm now looking to set up one of these redirected domains - Domain B - up by itself, and split off a couple of features from Domain A to it.

A concern is that I would like Domain B content to be still publically accessible when moved from Domain A.

However, will search engines (Google, Yahoo!, MSN) ignore Domain B with it having already been used in a redirect?

I have a nagging worry that domains once 301'ed are at best likely to be treated with suspicion and contempt by search engines, and at worst completely excluded from further consideration.

redirecting is never a good idea.
why not creating small ftp accounts and creating very small individual content. with links to your main-page. This is much better for the search engines.
