Transferring domain registration question

If you transfer a domain from one registrar to another, will there be down time? I can't afford any so want to be darn sure before I make a move like that.

I just transferred 40 domains from an Enom reseller to Network Solutions and experienced zero downtime.

It depends on the register.
When you request the transfer, some delete you from their DNS's at once, which will cause down time. Others give you a couple of days to probagate the new DNS's.
Ask.

Have transferred 20 or so domains for various clients over the past couple of years. I haven't seen a problem yet.

No, the new registrar have (and still) offer a free 12month extension to al domains transferred in, (maybe can work that out to a tax reduction though thinking about it).

Having said that though both the registrars, Enom & Network Solutions provide registration service for ICANN

I've use Godaddy for a couple years and everything has been great. Nice prices, indeed!

I personally recommend OpenSRS. Costly but good. You decide the rest. Just an Opinion.
