IPS TAG and DNS transfer delays

Delays in tranfering domains?

Tranfered a domain's IPS last week and it is being being picked up by the host. Trouble is, when I go to the page it resolves to the a 123 holding page not the one on the host.

Is anyone else noticing a delay at all. I am sure I have seen this before on the boards and if it is just a waiting game for an update of the dns that is cool.

But I need to know. I have tried contacting them.

Cheers

If its a co.uk domain then make sure you have changed the Nameservers.

Changing just the IPSTAG won't do the trick.

Also ask your new host to verify the Nameserver are correct.

I have transfered them before in the same way with only a days delay.

I will check re nameservers. I did contcat the host and they said it was not down to them. They have been good before.

If the tag has been changed, the new host can simply send a modify request through the Nominet Automaton and update the nameservers that way - the old host won't be able to perform any mods once they've released the tag.

My experience with 123 is that normally transfers go through pretty much instantly.

I had one case a few months ago when the nameservers seemed to be stuck pointing to a 123 holding page, not my host. But I put that down to me making a mistake rather than them.

Now that you raise the issue it makes me wonder.

Why not go through the control panel options again & update all the settings again to see if that nudges it along any faster?

I cant go through it again. Once the ips have been changed that option is gone. I worked last time, that is what is doing my head in.

What did you do last time then?

Rich,

usually it comes down to who the nameservers involved are.

personally the worst in my experience are the bigger one's without naming names.
