The six-year legal battle finally closes with the domain hijacker's appeal being rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court.

See the article at: [boston.internet.com...]

Wonder what will become of Mr. Cohen. After the 2002 ruling he was AWOL in Mexico to avoid the $65 million ruling against him. He was also under house-arrest in Mexico for a time according to another article.

Ahhh, the good life! ;)

Well, it appears the story does continue for Verisign:

[netimperative.com...]

But VeriSign did not check with Kremen when it received the letter and the court is expected to hold the registrar to task, setting a new precedent about domain names, which could become legal property.

VeriSign believes if it loses the case it will spark a wave of similar court cases and could prove to be a fatal blow for the company. VeriSign will face fines of up to $100m and incur legal fees if the court finds against it.

Ya know,

I can speak to this matter as it became very personal to me. Right after Gary was awarded the domain before the very first appeal, I did a deal with Gary and was President and General manager for the site for approx. 6 mos.

I know of no other domain that carried the name power that this one did, and with what Gary went thro to get it back. I was privy to some very out there conversations about the whole fiasco...and I can tell you that it was a battle well fought by Gary and his legal team.

They deserve a prominent win and cudos for a well fought legal battle. Good luck collecting, wouldn't get a payday from Cohen and Verisign will keep this one tied up in court for years.

However, if Verisign is smart...they'll size up their opponent appropriately. If Kremen was willing to go toe to toe with Cohen for 5 years to get back sex.com, how long would Kremen hold out against Verisign (NSI). In my opinion, after working with Gary...Verisign better settle. He can do twice the time needed for the Cohen battle with his eyes closed!

Good Luck Gary, Go get them!
