How does an American buy Euro domains?

I am in the process of putting together an Italian, French, and Spanish language sites and I would like to buy the corresponding .it .fr and .es domains. How would a North American go about that?

Since they are not TLDs, you have to register w/whomever controls them - a quick contact list can be found here:

They are not gTLDs (generic TLDs) but they are ccTLDs just like .us

I think URL dropping in this case may be relevant:

www.speednames.com or www.netnames.com

unfortunately I can NOT find any cheap and cheerful registrars, but only 2 reputable companies.

actually a good choice for .it domains would be:

www.livetodot.com or www.bb-online.co.uk/italydomain.html

I wouldn't choose Speednames. They are very hard to contact by phone. They also aren't that flexible with special configurations for your domains.

I have no experience with Netnames, other than that I think they have a nice site. Another one that pops my mind is CommWorld Domains. They're backed up by a consortium of 18 European Advertising Agencies. Their site is at: [commworlddomains.com...]

They're very flexible.
