NN7 Allowing Font Resizing?

why does netscape 7 ignore css font sizes?

I am using 12px (pixel) and if you adjust the size in netscape 7, the size increases! I thought pixel was pretty absolute...is there a unit that will not change in size if the user changes the browser font size in netscape 7?

Funny, I always regarded IE's inability to resize text that has been specified in px as a bug in IE. After all, if people try to resize your page to read, it means they need to do so because the text is too small (eg, the people who are older or can't see so well). I'm sure they know that if they resize the page, everything becomes distorted.

But regarding your question: as far as I know, I don't think there's a way to do this with browsers like Netscape/Mozilla, Opera, etc. Of the graphical browsers, only IE disregards the user's wishes.

It is IE that has it wrong. Netscape are doing it correctly - go and check it in Opera too, you'll see it changes the sizing.

Yep - adjusting font sizes is the #1 reason to use an alternative to IE.

It's also one of the top arguments for designing for IE LAST.

Design in Opera or Moz/NN first then tweak for IE. It's much simpler and although nasty surprises are expected, they're easier to deal with.

If, for whatever reason, you absolutely must force the user to view in a fixed size, you can always use graphics.

there is no (or at least there shouldn't be) such thing as fixed fonts

and if there was it's changing..;) is accessibility "winning" here?

if it's a logo design (I think it is if I remember) then make it a logo design, but remember that not all users can "see" your design
