What utility shows total size of a web page & content?

Just comparing my new css and old web-pages + also making sure total page content is within my size limits.

Which utility shows the full total of the content including images, Macromedia etc? Probably one of the browsers does it?

Note - How to add the features:

From Firefox, select extensions from the tools menu.
Click get more extentions.
From the new browser window select "Developer Tools".
Currently the on the second page you click install for "Web Developer 0.8".
Re-start firefox and up it comes!

While you are at it! Two more useful ones:

Launchy - you can then right click in firefox and open current page in another browser of your choice.

Checky - again available from right click - that gives you other validators to validate with such as WDG which picks up problems others don't always.

Developer's toolbars are also available for IE and Mozilla.

ok.. while that being said what is the consensus on load times.. ie what is an acceptable load time and page size. I know that most page sizes should be below 10k or so at least from our beloved administrators view.. but with images and all us what is the acceptable threshold?

Just curious.. and thought as we were thinking about it.

I have always tried to shoot for a max load time of no more than 10 seconds, with a MUCH preferred max load time of 7-8 seconds (all times assumign 56k speeds).

Above that and you are loosing a large amount of visitors.

Luckily broadband is really taking off so we won't be held back by dial-up for too much longer.
