I had this unnumbered list, CSS-based navigation working beautifully in Firefox, and was horrified at the results in IE...any thoughts?

Check your CSS/HTML in the W3C validators. That'll clean up the CSS, as there's a fair few typo's in it.

Then post back an exemplified version please.

Exemplified = Around here we use "example.com" in URL references to make sure we don't include information that could lead to the identification of someone's website.
