big space between vertical menu items

Hi to everyone!

I hope someone could help me, I'm banging my head for 2 days already.

The website is [icavresearch.org...] , the trouble is that in IE7 and lower the space between sidebar menu items is a lot bigger then intended.

I can't understand where this space is coming from, I checked all the margins and paddings, but with no success.

Can someone help?
