i have an issue with extra white space after a background image at the bottom of my panels on the left hand side at <snip>

in the latest version of FF and IE everything looks fine. there is no padding on the bg image so i dont know where the space is coming from.

does anyone know what may cause this and what i can check for?

The first thing to do is to find out which element's background goes where you see the whitespace.
I find it easiest to just add all possible elements a different solid color.

From there on it mostly becomes easier to figure out what to do to make it look better.
