CSS Background Image Issue

Hi.. I know that I am supposed to post my code but really just have one simple question that may be able to be answered without using it. Is a there a way using css, to keep a background image:repeat, while having the text within the background image: no-repeat? I've simply just manipulated my image, adding text to it but now; I'm having issues with the text repeating. Any ideas as to what I can do?

If it's a background image it will just be dumbly repeated - you can't have some bits of the image repeat and others not.

Could you not just use the image in the background (repeated as required) and incorporate the text in your HTML?
