Does anyone know if there is a fix to make netscape display css background images? (apart from user agent detection)

Do you mean for <body>? It works for me in NN4, NN6 and Mozilla.

body {margin:0px 0px; padding:0px; color: #000; font-family:Arial; background: white url(/images/mybg.gif) 100px 0px no-repeat;}

I must say that the position does not work. It will put itself in the top left corner.

Yeah- sorry- I should have clarified. It works when the position is set to relative but not to absolute.

We're starting to question if this is worth it for 2.5% of our user base... Might be easier just to do one for them with tables and use user agent id'ing.

I think you're on the right track edit_g, Netscape4 is not a css browser in any meaningful sense of the term. I wouldn't waste too much time on it; I think it is sufficient just to present readable data in it.

Hmmm... What about AOL users? Doesn't aol8 use netscape?

edit_g, I guess I should have clarified, the position doesn't work on NN4. Anything higher which AOL users are using or are going to use (NN6+ or Mozilla+) works correctly.

I think AOL 8 is using Gheko... They're going backwards...

To my view, the standards support is definitely a step forward.

It worked when I wrote the post. Temporary AOL troubles, I guess. The page is accessed from the "webmaster" link at the very bottom of AOL's public index page.
