ie7 text cursor problem

can somebody explain, why in ie7 cursor is 'text' when mousing over whitespace in the div here? cursor is good in firefox of course. and how changing style to "width: 500px; background: #ffffff" fixes it in ie? had the problem with this cursor behaviour for few days, glad i fixed it at last, just wanna know what is going on :}
