Text printing as black

I have a flyer that we are emailing out to a bunch of people. The main image I have as a div with a z-index of 1. The text on top has a z-index of 10 and color: white. When I go to print, the text defaults to black on Macintosh and a nasty gray color on Windows. Anyone have any secrets to make this work? Disregard the text behind the image, I haven't gotten to the css for that. The issue is happening with the 'Property Highlights' area.

since we don't allow most url's here you will have to describe your problem more completely and/or post the code you are using.
the most simplified sample code sufficient to exhibit the problem is preferred.
