Link underline - padding issue

I have a link as below.
css is

.style1{
font-family: Arial;
font-size: 10px;
color: CC0000;
padding-left: 5px;
padding-top: 0px ;
padding-bottom: 0px;
padding-right: 5px;
}

<Td valign="top" class="style1"><a href="">uk red and blue car</a></TD>

the link rollovers as underlined. The last couple of words roll over onto a new line but the problem is that the space between the top line and bottom is to much I only want 1 pixel between them so that it looks on top of each other if that makes sense.

Hope some body can help? Maybe I should use another font?

I managed to fix the problem with this little beauty.

line-height : 100%

Hope it helps some body else out.
