How to Combine 2 classes into 1 tag?

Hi, lets say in my CSS...

.center {text-align: left;}
.bg {background: #BCBCBC;}

and in my HTML...

<p>Widgets sell like hotcakes.</p>

How do it make this <p> align center with a grey background?
