I have not used CSS and only have a very basic understanding of what it is. I would appreciate any answers to the following questions to help me decide if this is something I should learn now or some other time.

1 Will CSS keep people from being able to view "the real" page that that is being given to the spider, for example...if someone clicks "view source" on my homepage will a seperate CSS keep them from seeing the page that is more directly resposible for it's "SE rankings"?

2 The only interest I have in CSS at this time is to use it for increasing my "rank" and at the same time NOT changing the current appearance of the page to the viewer. IS CSS one of the better options for accomplishing this task? Is there an easier way?

3 Where is a good starting point to learn this aspect of CSS?
Thanks for any help and direction

  1. No
  2. No,Yes
  3. There isn't. You need to learn cloaking by the sounds of it. Not CSS.

Welcome to the CSS Forum, Onedumbear,

One of the advantages of CSS is it's ability to 'help out' in your SEO efforts - however, it is not the purpose of CSS.

CSS is a set of instructions for applying style to elements on an HTML document - have a look at DrDoc's thread on What CSS can and cannot do [webmasterworld.com], it'll answer some questions!
