I stumbled across this resource today while doing a bit of surfing...

[csszengarden.com...]

A great demonstration site for anyone who doubts the power of CSS or who thinks that all CSS based sites look the same.
It offers the same basic HTML rendered with a number of different stylesheets and the results are quite beautiful.

If you are gifted with an artistic flair then you might want to take up the challenge and submit your own design to the collection.

I'll be staying out of it, I can't do pretty designs. I'm a coder :)

P.S. I realise this is probably not an 'authorative site' (although it was linked to by CSS guru Eric Meyer [meyerweb.com]). So if an admin wants to de-link then thats cool - no explanation required).

Yeah, it's a great site graham, been mentioned before. Probably got buried by the traffic in the CSS forum though.

I hope not Woz, that stuff deserves recognition for what it is: An outstanding piece of work! ;)

Thanks for showing us graham!

Very nice. My personal fave is actually the original stylesheet.

It's worth bringing up again - since the last discussion, it looks like several new designs have been added. It's an inspiration to us HTML-neanderthals that associate CSS with dreary text columns. :)

My favorite is "What lies beneath".

Go horizontal scrollbar!

Brilliant idea for a site, too; showing the same content with different css'... Without a doubt very useful for convincing a client to use css rather then tables.
The horizontal solution is way cool!

Wow. Cool AND useful.

Has anyone here had a design accepted? If you do, make sure you tell us.

One reason that this is a cool resource is that the site owners are employing some real selectivity in what they add to the collection. On one page they link to submitted pages that didn't make the cut; a few of these are not bad, but it's clear that only the best get accepted.
