My question revolves around the ending punctuation in the quote in the following sentence. Here it is:

So when someone asks, "Have you heard the news about MyClient?" make sure they know the facts.

Should the question mark be there? It seems there should be a comma, but should I have a question mark, a comma, and a close-quote? Should I ditch the question mark and just put a comma before closing the quotes? This is going to the printer today, so advice is appreciated...

According to Words Into Type, my editing bible, it should read:

So when someone asks, "Have you heard the news about MyClient?" make sure they know the facts.

Even though it seems like there should be a comma or something after the question mark, it is supposed to be left as-is.

I agree with faltered - you've got it just right.

As the? is part of the sentence it should be before the " as it is part of the sentence.

The speech marks act as parenthesis making a comma redundant.

I don't agree with the ellipsis ( ...?) but it may be US/UK English thing there. (I am UK)

Don't worry about it. Obviously, you don't have the WebmasterWorld grammar-checker plug-in installed...
