Can anyone recommend a good/reliable/easy to use (non-free or paid) content management system (CMS) such as the free [mamboserver.com...] phpnuke, postnuke for a Linux-based web site for under $100? I'm willing to paid for a good one.

jcdb, it might be helpful if you could describe the type of site(s) the software will run, how many users you expect, how much and what type of content you have, how many authors/administrators you will need, and what kind of management or site features you are looking for.

Have a look at the CMS Matrix at [cmsmatrix.org...] (which includes many well-known packages but is also missing some like WordPress and NucleusCMS) and OpenSourceCMS at [opensourcecms.org...] (whose name is somewhat misleading, as it reviews proprietary as well as open source software).

I dont know your details but out of all the free CMSs Mambo beats them all.

Or if you want something a little better (IMHO) you could be like me a wait for articlelive to make a php version

If you want a good one and dont mind spending some time learning one try typo3, Mambo is great because its easy and has a large community.

But if you want those extra features such as working multilanguage support, good built in Search Engine Friendly URLS and upgrades that are backward compatible, I wouldnt go passed typo3. I always stayed away from it because reviews everywhere said it had a steep learning curve IMHO it doesnt, just follow the documentation given and its not as difficult as people say it is.

It's for a community oriented site with movies, sports, forum, etc, such as
[craigslist.org...] or . It should run on a linux server with php/mysql/cgi/perl software. I'm not interested in opensource though becuase of real support issues, and the ones on cmswatch are too expensive.

Thanks
