Avoiding Duplicate Content

Hi,

I am about to launch a number of websites selling widgets, but aimed at different markets. I have spent a lot of time writing original content for each individual site and I am almost ready to launch, but there is one issue I am not clear on the best way to go:

I want to put a company profile & FAQ section on each website, but I don't want to be punished by Google for using duplicate content as these sections will be very similar to each other.

As far as I can see it my options are:

- Use a Java Script link so Google can't follow
- Only have the company profile and FAQ on one of the sites and use a pop up window which links back to that page
- Ban spiders accessing the pages in question through the robots.txt

All help is gratefully appreciated

did you consider using robots.txt to block all spiders from those specific pages?

well you are not banned for duplicate content, it is just that the duplicate pages will not rank, so i don't see any problem in using the same faq's on each site. ... it should not affect the ranking of the rest of the site.

you could just use a frameset on each site in the contact/faq section and serve the same faq's anyway.
