ok, I'm starting to make alot of scripts that are getting downloaded alot, I'm scared people will copy and modify them a bit and call them their own, I want to keep my scripts free under the gpl license, so how do I protect my scripts with this license.

Read this:
[gnu.org...]
and then make the appropriate changes in your scripts to quote the licensing conditions.

Be prepared to get a few squeals from potential users of your scripts. Some people consider that the raw GPL license imposes unacceptable conditions on anyone who includes a line of GPL code in a previously non-GPL product.

So read around some of the other licensing options. Tbis is a good place to start:

[creativecommons.org...]

And so is this:

[opensource.org...]
