What works for different nationalities?

I've noticed that most articles written on US sites sound something like "10 ways to ...", "5 deadly mistakes ...." and similar. Does this style appeal to other audiences as well such as the British? Any resources/books you can recommend where I could research something like this?

Well it's something I've noticed in my web wanderings. I could be wrong, I didn't mean to offend anyone.

Specific facts always catch attention and numbers are the most concise way to be specific. The title "How to make 10.869 dollars in 2 minutes" is definitely much more catchy then "How to get rich quickly".

Btw, I'm Czech -- quite a different nationality, am I ;-)

bluecorr,

I can only speak for the british market (I am a brit) and they appear to like the information in a less "snappy" style.

The people with internet access in the UK tend to be more affluent and therefore more reserved in what they read. This is due partly to the cost of being online in the UK where some people have to pay (by the minute) for dial up connections.

Plus the brits have always been suspicious of anything that sounds like a get-rich-quick scheme.

THe best place to do research would be to look at UK sites themselves (or any other country) that deal with your area of interest. See how they approach things.

PhraSEOlogy, that answers my question precisely. Thank you. I suspected as much.
