I've done a UK nominet search on a domain in the format "www.****xxxxxx.fsnet.co.uk" to no avail. Any idea how I can get the propriators info?

Subdomains aren't registered with whois. If you have a problem with someone on a Freeserve domain (e.g., copyright or trademark infringement), you'll probably have to contact their "abuse" address.
