I'n not referring to copyrighting, but ways that will prevent people from doing a cut and paste job on an article. Besides disengaging the right mouse button, what other options are there? I'm mostly looking for a way to take the Ctrl+C method of copying the selected text out of the equation.

There is no way to do this using HTML. Even if you could disable the users cut or copy from the browser menu they can still use the short cut keys crl c ctrl x.

If you were able to find a way around that then all they would need to do is get a hold of your source code and chop away from there.

I came across a lyrics site which wanted users to pay to download txt versions of the songs, but they would display them on the screen using Flash. This seemed to work fine, but then you have accessability issues as well.

Not that im suggesting anything but serving a .gif to the end user of your text and cloak for the spiders then the .gif would be of much less use for the thief's page PR etc :)

Of course, if they done the same thing that would defeat the purpose of it all

Also, some out of line stuff on web pages can be pretty hard to highlight, maybe a couple of css tricks could make it harder to highlight a large block of text. It may be possible...
