What I should do if I am using another site picture?

Hi to All!

I am planning to create my own web site, with own design structure and original idea. But i will use pictures from another portals and web sites for the first 3-4 month.

Problem
If picture was taken from another web resource I am planning to put a link to this resource. For example:
This Picture was brought to you by WebmasterWorld.com [webmasterworld.com]

Is it enough? Or I should do anything else if you do not want to have a problem with copyright?

Ask the entity who holds the copyright for permission to use their material. It may be a negotiation, but better a negotiation than a lawsuit.

If it was my material you wanted to use.....if you ask, you will probably be given rights to reproduce, don't ask and I will surely come after you will all legal guns blazing. Many others will do likewise.

Be nice and ask, most people will take it as a compliment and oblige with minimal requirements. :)

I agree totally with percentages, i have just launched a new website in which the content i.e. articles, news etc is all from other sites in the same industry.

A polite email asking for permission, highlighting the fact that you will give full credit and a link to their website will probably be enough.

People do like to be asked first regardless of any link or credit. It's the polite thing to do imo.

It's the legally required thing to do. Taking without asking is theft, as it would be in any other context.
