Youtube deleting videos

Youtube deleted videos of stars who promoted academic papers - can it apply to other forms of video advertising?

I've been an international social media producer on Youtube for a few years now. Have you heard of the latest Youtube / Google actions related to publishers who advertised academic paper services? They deleted hundreds of videos that endorsed academic paper services that paid them to read some ads. What is confusing to me is whether policies related to Google are automatically covered by Youtube? Let's say, Google doesn't allow advertising of academic paper services, then it's automatically not allowed on Youtube too?

But my bigger concern is that Youtube may ban all kind of verbal advertising or endorsements, would it be possible? For example, if I endorse some product or service and say it in my video, could it fall within illegal advertising? From the story we know that Youtube can search for words said (not written) on videos, then they can detect keywords that they may consider as advertising? It could be similar to nofollow links - if it's a sponsored link and you don't put nofollow, Google may penalize you. Same about Youtube videos - if a publisher doesn't clearly state that: "This is advertising" then it could mean it's illegal in the end? I'm probably overexagerrating but Youtube changing it's Terms often and who has time to read it and understand it.

Is it time for Youtubers to have a lawyer to examine the advertiser and their service or product before they endorse it in public? It may be less expensive than having custom videos deleted or the whole channel deleted. I myself stopped endorsing any new advertisers just in case (some of them like virtual currencies may pay well but now they are probably banned too).

Hello YT55Pavls and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

They likely see it as competition with their own adds.
