Get out on the street, start talking to customers and find value.

Should we be spending less time on the computer using the internet to construct our businesses and more time out on the street talking to customers and finding out what really is most valuable?

a little over simplified - prototyping requires time patience which many mortals dont have. Where i am coming from is a reduction in uncertainty through a deeper understanding of value.

And there was me thinking you were trying to get others to save you doing the actual research work..like with 5 letter domains [webmasterworld.com]..as per your 20/80 principle ;-)
WebmasterWorld is not about only posting, or stickying, asking others to think/work/research for one,( however smoothly the questions are presented ;) it is also about learning to think/work/ research for oneself..first..
Everyone's time is equally precious, which is why when people ask for "code fixes", they are required to have first put in some effort ..themselves, and to post what they have tried or found on the subject..first ;)

wow, you have a good memory.
Fully take on board your comment. Although I think you have misunderstood the intent behind it.
This idea for a thread was really aimed at users in here who's comments indicate spending too much time trying to uncover value from the medium itself, the web, rather than talking in dialog face to face with the target group and observing real life customers to gain situational fluency.
It's more of a generic rant than anything else - to get a feel for how much time people spend conducting market research online VS real world dialogs on the street so to speak (the best way imo).
