Eu rejects ACTA-Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement

478 MEPs voted against, with 39 for, 165 abstentions

The European Parliament has voted to reject the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (Acta).

Outside the EU, the treaty also had the support of the US, Australia, Canada, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore and South Korea.

However, following significant protests, several countries chose not to back the treaty.

This is good news for internet users (IMHO): no providers policing users' traffic with DPI, no further consolidation of today's retarded copyright laws.

@RonPK, agreed. Its a law by big business, for big business, and like a lot of legislation is bad for everyone else (consumers, small biz)
