hello,

few days ago i found a website which was totally clone of my website, all the files, all the urls, databse, website design and everything was same. The entire website files & database was running on this clone.

the whose database is not vaid at all and the godaddy is not taking this matter seriously. GD has been reported 5 times but they are not repling and also not taking the website down and also not giving the website owner ccontact details.

my client is not willing to spend lot of money on legal issues and DMCA but he genuinly looking for the issue who did this and how can he get the database as well.

we have called our hosting provider as well to know when the database and files has been downloaded, they are also not repling seriosuly.

Can we do something...?

High regards

are you saying that your database and files were downloaded without your permission from your server and that someone else is using them to make a clone of your site?

are you sure that they haven't:
1) scraped your entire content and are republishing it.
or
2) serving your site in some kind of frame?

if they genuinely stole the content from your server then maybe it's a police issue - if you can get them interested.

or is this site on the same server as you? it could be a configuration error which is serving your site on a different domain as well.

yes, somebody from server side had done this, because when we ask them to provide the cpanel and ftp login history, they have no answer since almost a month and not replying.

no frame, it is totally running like my own website

no it is hosted on godaddy.

maybe there's only one database -- yours -- and he's got access to it. first thing i would do is change my database names and passwords. or maybe he's got access to the files on your server (through your FTP passwords, or whatever), which means there's no real point in changing your database names/passwords, because he could easily get them again.

if this has been going on for so long, why haven't you changed your host? if the info in your database is changing every day then that will probably kill his site, because he'd no longer be able to update it... unless he's scraping the stuff straight from your site. if he's doing that then you need to look at your logs and find any suspicious IPs.

of all those possibilities, i think scraping is the most likely. how big is your site? assuming that he's accessed or copied the entire database would be the last thing i'd look at.

do this first... make a chance to your database and see how quickly it updates on his site.
