I'm writing content (at least 350 to 400 words) articles to develop backlinks to a website. What are some seo friendly article directories that you use?

There are a few that I use but I want to submit to more. The ones I use now are: articledashboard.com,articlecity, a1articles, iguides, bharatbhasha, articlesbase, articlealley, earticlesonline, articleblast, ezinearticles.com.

Also, how do you get those links found by the search engines quickly? Aside from tweeting the article directory links, or bookmarking them.

Articlecat doesn't give you a link back on the article page.
Articlesnatch shortens the links with tinyurl.
Myfreearticlecentral doesn't have links at all in the author bio.
Financealley doesn't give a link back.
Articlesbase doesn't give a link back.
Contentcorral is not receiving any articles now.

None of those article directories are any good for seo.

The ONLY article directory i submit occasionally to is ezinearticles.

99.99% of articles directories do not have enough link equity to go around and your article quickly gets buried deeper / pages go supplemental.

Better to keep the quality content on your own domain, or do selective guest blogging with QUALITY bloggers which will give you both quality backlink as well as distribution.

Using articles as a marketing strategy can backfire as everyone republishes those articles hence ARTICLES = SPAM so the spammiest of sites link back to you and you may be penalized by association.

Read about this article marketing catastrophe [webmasterworld.com] which may or may not be also related to the fact they were publishing micro-sites, too many variables to tell.

IMO - BAD IDEA

Is there a way to stop someone using your content after changing the links used in it?
