Should I the site owner to take it down?

I got a pingback from a WordPress blog. The owner copied an entire article from my site, word for word, plus used all the associated images. At the end of the article there is a credit (the name and link to my site).

Should I contact the site owner and ask that they take it down?

Also, what is the name of the organization the addresses issues such as this?

Personally I would not be too concerned about this as long as they are not claiming it as their own and properly crediting you with it but they should have cleared it with you first.

Try contacting the site owner and if you get no response contact their hosting to resolve the issue.

I forget the name of the organization where you can report when someone copies your copyrighted material. If some knows it, please let me know. thanks.

I'd ask them to take it down. With search engines increasing the importance of content over back-links, a site that copies your material is weakening the value of your site and potentially diverting traffic away from you that should be yours.

If they are hotlinking the images it can be fun to change what is shown on them. Replace the image with big "this content is stolen" logo. Were your images watermarked?

Like gpilling said, if they're hotlinking images you have the ability to control what shows up on their site. Get creative.

Not sure what organization you're talking about. Your best bet is to file a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) with their host. I've had outstanding success with this, often seeing stolen material removed within hours.

No,the images weren't watermarked. They are just stock images and gifs I created to illustrate the article. Many good ideas here. Thank you.
