Most of the content copied from my site to sites that actually rank is on Yahoo Answers.
Most of it is a fair use snippet with a (no-followed) link back. That is both legal and OK with me.
Some of it has just the URL (not a real link), and some of it has extensive copying (several paras or most of a page).
At what point is it worth complaining? Is there any short cut alternative to tracking down every single infringement?

I think this is worthy of complaint.

Anything more than a paragraph or two is worth complaining about. It's all reducing your traffic.

I believe that YahooAnswers has a "report this" or similar feature right on the page... Have you tried that?

Firstly, knowing your content getting copied is worth a complain. And secondly, anything more than a paragraph is worth getting fixed. Have you tried the "report spam" or similar "report"options?

If your articles rank ahead of Yahoo answers for keywords in those pages title I wouldn't worry about it. You may be losing some longtail visits but mention of your site is also bringing attention to it.
