Interesting look at where this might all be heading...

The UK is asking for clarity regarding how copyright infringers might be dealt with under proposed legislation.

The Government must provide more detail on exactly how alleged copyright infringers will be cut off from the internet before a file-sharing disconnection law is passed, according to a parliamentary committee.

The Joint Committee on Human Rights has said that the Government must make the Digital Economy Bill more detailed to allow Parliament to scrutinise it properly. It said it could not rule on whether the proposed law was compatible with human rights law until those details were provided.

This is the law that was going to allow Mandelson (an unelected official, whose nickname is "the prince of darkness") to make copyright law without reference to Parliament.

Once would think the right to a fair trial was relevant as well - or maybe Parliament has given up on that now that people can spend years in prison or under house arrest before being finally found not guilty.
