Request to use my content in a book

What are the pros and cons?

I received a request from someone to copy a small passage from one of my web sites to use in a book. The person didn't say which sentences exactly she wanted to use.

She seems to be a real author with a number of books on Amazon on subjects related to my site.

What would you do? Should I ask to see the exact passage before she prints it? Or am I being overly cautious? Any thoughts?

I had the same issue a few years ago and I replied:

"You can use my text in your book but
a) this permission is limited to a few paragraphs, small passage or excerpts.
b) you must notify to me by email the exact text you've used in your book
c) you must notify to me by email where and when I can buy one of your books".

Hope it helps.

It's as straightforward as Lexur states. Certainly you will want to know prior to publication exactly what text is to be used and the context in which it will be applied.

The only thing I would add is that you should ensure a credit/citation is given.
